|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
Coffee cup with the arms of Kellett.
Coffee cup having a cylindrical body with a rounded bottom, a raised footring and a loop handle; decorated in overglaze famille rose enamels with a gold chain border at the outer rim, a floral spray on either side, and a coat of arms on the front of the cup opposite the handle.
The arms of the Kellett family of Ireland decorate this cup. It may have been made for William Kellett, who was mayor of Clonmel, Ireland, and who died in 1767, or it may have been made for Richard Kellett, who married Jane Laulhe in 1758.
On the underside of the cup is a collector's label inscribed "David Sanctuary Howard 2; 398."
