Saucer decorated in polychrome enamels and gold with a chain border at the inner rim and a coat of arms with the motto "GLADIO ET VIRTUTE" in the center of the well.
The arms are those of Garstin, and the service was probably made for John Garstin, son of Thomas who was the High Sheriff of County Kilbare. John Garstin moved from Ireland to London in 1750, where he lived in Whitehall and held a government appointment. Twice married and widely travelled, he died in 1780.
