|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
This cup comes from a service that was probably made for Sir Henry Cunningham Montgomery (?-1830), who served in the East India Cavalry from 1783 to 1803. He was based in India, and served under General John Floyd in his defeat of Tipu Sultan, ruler of the Indian kingdom of Mysore, in 1799.
He retired to Ireland in 1803 and in 1808 was made a baronet. He was married to Sarah Mercer.
