Octagonal plate decorated in overglaze grisaille (shades of grey) and gold with alternating sections of laurel leaves and florets at the edge of the rim; the inscription "IULIANA MARIA" and the Danish royal arms on a gold ground on the rim; and a circular medallion framed in laurels containing an image of a statue of a man on horseback.
The plate is from a service made for Queen Juliana Maria of Denmark (1729-96), second wife of Frederick V of Denmark and Norway and regent from 1772 to 1784. The central medallion shows the statue of Frederick V by Jacques Saly, which was unveiled in Copenhagen in 1771.
