|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
This cup, along with a nearly identical one (2020) was made for a member of the Goodwin family of Devon and Suffolk. At least two tea services with these arms are known, along with an elaborately painted punch bowl decorated with a view of the British battleship Royal George.
One possible owner of the bowl and tea sets is captain John Goodwin, who was "pilot to his Majesty's Yacht" and in 1739 was appointed Master Attendant at Deptford, the naval shipyard where the Royal George had been built in 1715.
