|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
This cup is from a service made for William Maule, Earl of Panmure of Scotland. He was raised to the earldom in 1743, and probably ordered this beverage service and a dinner service soon thereafter.
The service was probably ordered through James Maule, who was undoubtedly a relative and a Captain for the Swedish East India Company. He was in China in 1740, 1742, 1745 and 1748.
