|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
This cup is from a service made for a member of the Hutchinson family of Durham County, England.
This service was possibly made for Captain William Hutchinson, who was master of the East Indiaman Godolphin during her voyage to China in 1756, or Captain Norton Hutchinson, who was master of the Caernarvan during her voyages to Canton in 1757 and 1760.
At the same that this service was made, a similar service with the arms of Hutchinson impaling Calthrop was made; it was almost certainly made for a relative of whichever Hutchinson ordered this service.
