This cup is from a service made for George Clavering and Anna-Maria Palmer.
George and Anna-Maria married on June 20, 1765, at St. George's Church, Hanover Square, in London. Anna-Maria was a widow, having been married to Sir John Pole, baronet, who died in 1766. George was a widower, and following Anna-Maria's death married for a third time. He died in may of 1794, "suddenly, near Uxbridge, in his way from Bath (a popular spa in south-west England)."
They lived at Greencroft, in the north of England and had one son, Thomas.
