This cup is from a service made for Lewis Tessier (1736-1811) and his third wife, Mary Gardner. They married in May of 1780.
Leiws was a French Huguenot (Protestant) and was christened, and presumably worshiped, in what was known as the French Church in Threadneedle Street in London.
