Catalog Number 2008.9.105
Object Name Cup, Coffee
Description The complexity of coats of arms and of their colors meant that mistakes were sometimes made by painters not familiar with the intricacies of heraldry. This cup is decorated with arms that seem to be incorrectly painted; there is no known family with these exact arms, but if the colors were reversed and it was a silver chevron on a green ground instead of the existing green chevron on a silver ground, the arms would be those of the Close family.
