|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
This cup is decorated with the arms of the Raffles family of Yorkshire, England. It was probably made for Benjamin Raffles, an East India Company captain. He married Anne Lyde about 1780. Anne accompanied her husband on at least one voyage, as their eldest son, Thomas-Stamford Raffles, was born at sea in 1781.
