Object Name Saucer
Description Saucer with a flared rim, painted in overglaze famille rose enamels with a diaper border on the rim and a central scene of a man with a wine bottle and a woman holding a staff, being led by a winged Eros with a torch and staff toward a boat with an island in the background.

The scene is based on a 1708 engraving "les Pelerins de l'Isle Cythere" By the engraver Bernard Picart. Cythera is a Greek island known in antiquity for its cult of Aphrodite, the goddess of love.
