Object Name Cup, Coffee
Description The service was probably created for John Martin who married Katherine, daughter of Joseph Jackson of Sneed Park in Gloucestershire. They went on to have five sons and nine daughters. Martin was a prominent banker in London during the eighteenth century for the Grasshopper, a private banking house. He led the Martin family into a position of control over the banking house through his work there from 1717 until his death in 1767.
