|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
This cup is part of a service made for Sir Thomas Spencer Wilson, 6th Baronet (1726-1798), and his wife Jane Badger-Weller (?-1818). The service, whose arms are copied from a bookplate, was probably made to celebrate their marriage. They lived at Charlton, in Kent.
Sir Thomas was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the army, and a Colonel of the 50th Regiment of Foot. According to one report, "he rose intirely, through his own merit and bravery, to those posts he now enjoys."
