This cup is part of a service decorated with the arms of Boyle, the Earls of Cork and Orrery.
It was probably made for Edmund Boyle, who became the 7th Earl in 1764. He married Anne Courtenay in 1764, and in 1782 they were divorced. In 1786 he married Mary Monckton.
