|Object Name||Cup, Coffee|
This cup is decorated with the arms of the Sutton family of Salisbury in southwestern England.
It is possible that the service was made for, or ordered through, Captain John Sutton (1735-?) who served in the British East India Company. He sailed to China at least three times; as mate on the Latham in 1759 and 1762, and as captain of the Duke of Portland in 1772.
